Creative Office
Adaptive Reuse
Conversion of a 1914 concrete box with good bones from an over-worked, run down sewing factory to a coveted courtyard complex for creative companies and light-filled office space in an up-and-coming edge neighborhood of downtown LA. This building went from a dusty relic to a doyenne of the resurgent fashion district.
Modest Budget, Major Impact
Most of the aesthetic was achieved with a thoughtful and energetic paint job and lighting scheme along the re-organized corridor which was brought to the edge of the courtyard. An effort to democratize this light and airy amenity which has been outfitted with a 40-ft long communal work table and overhead lighting, giving the building a 24/7 outdoor space that functions as a neighborhood backyard.
Art in the City
A fashion-forward mural by street artist Fin DAC completes the ensemble.
